We have two print runs of sarongs available.

First Print Run
The first print run features modal fabric, a silky soft bio-fabric made from beech tree cellulose. Size is 100cm x 200cm.
Artists in this run include:

Billabong Fish | By Major Kennedy
Major is a key dancer for Bongiliny Bongiliny and Bunggul and has performed with Djilpin at festivals and events across the Northern Territory. He has produced designs for textiles and print, as well as paintings on canvas.

Floating Life | By M.Blanasi
M.Blanasi is the son of didjeridu (Mago) Master, David Blanasi and painted in his father’s Mayali tradition. M.Blanasi is represented in the Museum Blanasi Collection with large scale works on canvas. He has produced designs for Djilpin’s textile range. M.Blanasi has served as a Djilpin Director and cultural advisor.

Dragonfly | By Lancetta Ashley
Lancetta is the granddaughter of the late artist Angelina George. She has lived at Beswick all her life and has participated in Djilpin’s many media projects since she was a young teenager. More recently, Lancetta has become an Artsworker for Djilpin and has produced designs for print and textiles.

Bush Donkeys Drinking at the Billabong | By V.Cameron
V.Cameron was born at Djilpin on the Goyder River and came to Beswick as a young woman. She was taught to weave with pandanus and to collect the natural bush dyes by her sister and mother. As well as traditional fibre such as mats, baskets and dilly bags, she has woven fine hand-made Mukuy spirit figures. V.Cameron has also created designs for silver and gold jewellery and textiles. V.Cameron has exhibited in, and travelled to, Melbourne, Darwin, Indonesia and Timor Leste.

Second Print Run
Our second print run is printed on a blend of shimmery silk and soft cotton. This sarong seamlessly combines elegance with comfort, making it the perfect addition to your wardrobe. Size is 98cm x 198cm.

Bush Fruits | By Anderson George
Anderson is a Director of Djilpin Arts. He is the son of the late artist Angelina George and carries on the family tradition of making contemporary art with designs for textiles and print. Anderson supports and works with the Djilpin Arts by encouraging local community artists, and is committed to the legacy of his late brother Balang Lewis.

Fresh Water Turtle | By Revonna Urban
Born and raised at Beswick, Revonna joined Djilpin as a young woman, becoming an Artsworker in 2008 and participating in many of Djilpin’s media programs. She made her own short film “Boss for His Country” with TEABBA and has served as Chair on the Djilpin Arts Board of Directors. Revonna has produced designs for textiles and print.

Billabongs & Boomerangs | By Clinton Brian
Clinton was born at Buluhkaduru community, a homeland near Maningrida and now resides in Beswick. Clinton is self-taught in the art of wood carving. His love of art was inspired by watching his mother as a child. Clinton prefers carving from Nowerlap or Anbutbut (a species of Kurrajong tree) and paints using a traditional grass brush. Clinton is known for his carvings of fish, and birds such as magpie geese, herons and ibis. He has also recently incorporated the artistic use of buffalo horns in his work. This is his first digital art piece created from a sketch.

Bush Plants | By Julie Ashley
Julie was born on Elcho Island off the coast of Arnhem Land. She was taught to weave with pandanus and to collect the natural bush dyes by her mother. Julie has created a range of contemporary fibre artefacts such as lampshades, hats, mobiles and quirky animals including fish, turtles and dragonflies. She has also designed for Djilpin's textiles range and created two limited edition screen prints. Julie has conducted weaving workshops in Canberra and Darwin, and teaches our current workshops in Beswick / Wugularr and Katherine.
