The GuGu range of wild products – soap, lip balm, candles and premium wild sugar bag (honey) – are sourced from the ‘sugar bag bee’ a tiny stingless native bee which produces wax and honey, called GuGu.
Sugar bag is one of Arnhem Land’s greatest hidden treasures, so valued that it features in dedicated song cycles and ceremonial dances. Harvesting sugar bag is a complex and time consuming task, that involves spotting the miniscule bee in the air and following its flight to its nest. The hives, once found, yield only small amounts of the precious honey and wax and it can take many hours to remove the sugar bag, dewax and filter it. It is then used to produce the distinctive perfumes and textures of these products.

GuGu Soap
Both GuGu and the wax have antiseptic qualities and are valued by Indigenous people for their healing properties. Three types of soap are available: Sugar bag soap, Wild wash soap and Wild bush soap.

Lip Balm
Wild sugar bag lip balm is deliciously perfumed with the sweet lemon scented GuGu, carried in gentle moisturizing oils to protect your lips from the harsh Australian climate.

Candles
Wild sugar bag candles carry the scent of the wax and honey, so you can take some wild essential Arnhem Land into your home anywhere in the world.

GuGu
Premium pure wild GuGu is 100% wild honey. It is rich and delicious. The flavour can vary from one batch to the next because each hive is dependent on seasonal wild blossoms. Traditionally eaten by dipping a grass stick into the honey, or try dabbing it onto the back of your hand and licking it off. Like perfume, the warmth of your hand will bring out the aromatic esters locked into the honey. Use this wild product sparingly.
